Hello and welcome to my blog!
My name is Darla Moran and I am a Registered Dietitian (RD) and Physician Assistant Certified (PA-C). Most of my nutrition background has been in hospitals working to optimize nutrition in patients with cancer, diabetes, heart disease, obesity, malnutrition, kidney disease, liver disease and after surgery. Sounds intense, right? Well, I mostly went into nutrition because I love food and being healthy. The other more scientific and medical stuff really got a hold of me though and led me to PA school. What I learned was that a lot of things can go wrong with our bodies. Whether the cause is genetic or poor diet and lifestyle, the only things we can control are diet and lifestyle. Pretty simple.
When I went back to school to become a PA two years ago I knew I wanted to continue to use my nutrition degree to help people achieve healthy eating with grace and vigor. Eating healthy should be fun, inspiring and energizing! It should be a way of life. Now that I have passed my board exam and begun my first job as a PA-C working in sports medicine and holistic wellness, I finally have time to focus on sharing my nutrition inspiration and start giving back to the profession. Only this time I have a new focus and would like to work with everyday people in the community. And so it begins with a blog! I hope to share motivation, inspiration, healthy recipes (mostly!) and tips for nutrition and activity.
I will aim to post one new recipe every Monday and an additional nutrition, activity or random post on Thursday. Most of my recipes are pretty simple, usually seasonally inspired and possibly more hearty and complex in the winter when we midwesterners are cooped up inside. Please bear with my learning curve in foodtography and feel free to email me with things you would like to see featured 🙂
