Bacon Wrapped Dates

This is a little delicasy I fell in love with on the first try at one of my favorite tapas restaurants in NYC.  I made these for my holiday work party and I have never had more rave reviews.  Even in a room full of very health conscious individuals the plate was empty in less than an hour!!

Ingredients:

16 oz. package of regular cut bacon

8 oz. of pitted dates

1 Tbsp brown sugar

1 Tbsp Maple syrup

 

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350º

Cut each slice of bacon into 3 even pieces and lie flat on cookie sheet

Sprinkle tiny amount of brown sugar on each piece of bacon

Drop tiny amount of maple syrup on the end of the bacon you will place the date on

Place a date on each piece of bacon at end with syrup and roll

Place bacon wrapped date with bacon end down

Space bacon wrapped dates evenly on cookie sheet

Cook for 20-25 minutes until bacon is cooked to desired crispiness

Let cool 10 minutes

Makes about 15 depending on how many slices of bacon per package
